The Gospel Flourishing in Pakistan: A Powerful Move of God
Our time in Pakistan was nothing short of extraordinary. The people were incredibly warm, welcoming, and gracious toward us, and everywhere we traveled, we witnessed soft and open hearts for the Gospel. Many had already embraced Christ, and many more accepted the hope He offers while we were there. This hope stood in stark contrast to the beliefs of Islam and Hinduism, and as people sought the Lord, He revealed Himself to them in profound ways. The hunger for hope was undeniable, evident in the large-scale response we encountered.
A Vibrant and Faithful Church
Visiting local village churches was both inspiring and humbling. The people, primarily subsistence farmers, gathered in house churches, dressed in their finest clothes. The women and girls adorned colorful dresses and shawls, creating a beautiful tapestry of reverence and joy in worship. Their dedication to the Lord was evident, and their worship was filled with deep sincerity and devotion. Everywhere we went, people sought prayer. On our first night in Lahore at a Salvation and Healing service, I personally laid hands on no less than 100 people. Many prayer requests centered around healing from demon possession and deliverance from infertility—two significant spiritual strongholds in the region. The need for spiritual breakthrough was immense, and we saw God moving mightily. At Pastor Salik’s church in Lahore, more than 2,000 people attended the regular Sunday service, and the
Salvation and Healing Service drew an astounding crowd of over 3,000 people. The sheer number of attendees reflected the deep spiritual hunger among the people, eager to encounter the Lord’s presence
and receive His blessings.
Bold Evangelists with a Kingdom Vision
In Mirpur Khas, we trained grassroots evangelists, many of whom live on less than $1 a day. Despite their circumstances, their passion for the Gospel was unparalleled. One evangelist felt called to preach in Balochistan, a region virtually unreached by the Gospel. Another had been praying daily for Afghanistan for five years. Their goal is nothing short of remarkable: to bring the Gospel to every one of the 1,700 villages in Sindh province. The determination and faith of these men and women stand as a testament to God’s power working through willing hearts. The people referred to us as “men of God.” One particularly moving moment occurred in a pastor’s home when a family brought their three-month-old baby to us. They had waited for a “Man of God” to prophesy over the child and give him a name. Seeking the Lord, two of our pastors confirmed the name Elijah Lazarus, and the family joyfully embraced it.
A Testament to God’s Love: The Gawahi Orphanage
Our visit to the Gawahi orphanage, led by Pastor Sarfraz and his team, was both heartwarming and humbling. The children, rescued from circumstances of slavery, abuse, neglect, and even sex trafficking, greeted us with joyful songs, handshakes, and their polite response of “I am fine” to our greetings. They are receiving a Christian education, including English lessons, which will open doors for them in Pakistani society. The orphanage’s short-term goal is to achieve self-sustainability by acquiring ten cows, additional goats, and a farm, reducing reliance on external financial support. The care and future of these children are a powerful testimony to God’s love, mercy, and faithfulness.
A Night of Unprecedented Worship in Karachi
Our final night in Karachi was an unforgettable experience. Pastor Sarfraz and his ministry organized a Students and Teachers event, expecting 600–800 attendees. However, the crowd exceeded all expectations, with over 1,400 people packing the hall. Hundreds stood in the back, while others sat on the floor, eager to worship and hear the Word. Despite multiple power outages and microphone failures, worship continued unabated. At one point, as Jack preached with Pastor Sarfraz interpreting, both had to shout over the crowd when their microphones failed. Yet, the people remained engaged, determined to receive the message. It was a night filled with the undeniable presence of God.
The Gospel is Reaching Millions
Our hosts and ministry partners in Pakistan are truly anointed men of God. Through the combined efforts of Joshua Nations and City for the Nations, they have developed an evangelistic strategy to reach the lost. Beyond grassroots evangelism, Christian broadcast TV stations have become a powerful tool for spreading the Gospel. Over 100 million Pakistanis have access to Christian programming, with some shows reaching weekly audiences of more than 20 million.
The Harvest is Ripe
Pakistan is a nation incredibly receptive to the Gospel. God is moving mightily, and the fields are ripe for harvest. The work being done—through personal evangelism, church growth, orphan care, and media outreach—is transforming lives and communities. Praise be to God for the mighty things He is doing in Pakistan
