Why Printed Books are Changing the
Future of the Venezuelan Church
Joshua Nations has grown over the last six years through what is now known as the “Cuban Connection.” At its heart, it is simple but powerful: Cuban graduates of our Bible Training Centers (BTCs) who have traveled beyond their island – mainly due to persecution – and helped plant churches and build strong ministry networks in other nations. We have seen over 30,000 men and women graduate from our BTCs on the island of Cuba alone; many of them have migrated to other nations taking the passion of biblical discipleship with them!
In October 2025, one of the key leaders in this effort, Pedro Roberto Alvarez—affectionately known as the Roadrunner—made the journey from Cuba to Venezuela. His visit was filled with meaningful conversations and new connections as he met with Christian leaders throughout the country. These moments opened doors for vision to be cast, relationships to be created, and collaborations to be formed
.
One of the most exciting outcomes of that trip was a new partnership with Pastor Pedro Ozuna. Pastor Ozuna caught the vision of Joshua Nations and desired to coordinate and establish Bible Training Centers throughout Venezuela. The hunger for training amongst the church leaders was overwhelming! It is a great need that we wanted to meet but originally seemed nearly impossible with the regulations and closed nature of the country last year.
Recent political changes in Venezuela as of January 2026 have created a more open environment for ministry; giving pastors and leaders greater freedom to serve their communities. Many people are coming to faith, and with that comes a deep and urgent need for strong, equipped leaders. This was great news as Joshua Nations was ready and willing to step in and assist the church leaders!
Other ministries saw from a distance that a spiritual door had opened in Venezuela, and the time to equip and encourage Pastors and Leaders was now; however, all the ministries that tried to respond were only equipped with digital materials. Due to limited internet connectivity, electricity inconsistency, and lack of access to computers, digital format is simply not an option. Donato Parra, our Latin Nations Director, said, “There is a great urgency for the physical curriculum. It has become a race- whoever gets printed materials into the nation first will influence the whole country.” This is why printed curriculum has become a lifeline.
At the end of February, Joshua Nations began to distribute printed materials across Venezuela. Thanks to established relationships in all 23 Venezuelan states, 3,262 students are currently enrolled in 163 BTCs, but we’ve only been able to print materials for 1,500 of them. The need is growing faster than our ability to financially meet it.
Printing our BTC materials has been both a challenge and a blessing. While producing books globally can be costly, the ability to print locally in Venezuela has made it possible to reach more people in less time. In places like Cuba and Venezuela, where digital options are limited, a printed book isn’t just helpful – it is essential. Access to a physical book often determines whether training can happen at all. As word spreads, more churches are reaching out, eager to bring this training to their communities. The response has been deeply encouraging. Leaders consistently share how accessible and impactful the Joshua Nations printed materials are, especially compared to digital-only approaches.
With each book printed and each leader trained, the Venezuelan Church is engaged, encouraged, and equipped. This kind of momentum needs support to be multiplied… Will you help us equip Venezuela that is ripe to harvest? Click HERE to give now. As ministry expands across Venezuela, one need stands above the rest: printed curriculum. Digital resources are not a reliable or efficient option due to limited internet, inconsistent electricity, and almost no access to computers. The Joshua Nations printed curriculum is the answer to the prayers of pastors and leaders throughout Venezuela!
In 2026 we have seen more than 3,200 students enrolled and 163 new Bible Training Centers planted – but demand is multiplying rapidly! At $4.00 per book, materials can be produced affordably, but the scale of need is expanding faster than we anticipated.
We have been able to print 1,500 books but are nearly $7,000 short just to meet the current enrolled need – not even to mention the thousands that have been denied enrollment because there are not enough printed materials. Students are waiting; Pastors and Leaders are fervently praying, and the opportunity to expand the Church in Venezuela is calling.
